Bae Kim hires former prosecutor and India lawyer - white collar crime
At BKL, Hong will leverage his knowledge to assist companies in handling criminal investigations and crafting defense strategies.

The South Korean law firm Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL) has appointed two new legal experts, Hong Seong Mun, a former senior prosecutor, as a partner, and Reema Dash, an India-qualified lawyer, as counsel. These additions aim to bolster the firm’s capabilities in white-collar crime defense and India-focused corporate advisory services.

Hong Seong Mun’s Background and Role

With a distinguished career in prosecution, Hong Seong Mun previously served as the Chief Prosecutor of the Jeonju District Prosecutors’ Office. He now joins BKL’s corporate criminal defense team, bringing expertise in white-collar crime. During his tenure, Hong held prominent positions, such as director-general of the Anti-Corruption and Organised Crimes Department.

His experience encompasses leading investigations into significant corruption and economic crimes, particularly in corporate, financial, and defense sectors. At BKL, Hong will leverage his knowledge to assist companies in handling criminal investigations and crafting defense strategies.

Reema Dash’s Expertise and Responsibilities

Reema Dash, joining from G42’s Indian subsidiary, brings 13 years of experience in corporate and investment law. Her practice covers a wide range, including corporate governance, capital markets, compliance, and technology infrastructure. This diverse skill set makes her a valuable asset to BKL’s team.

Based between Korea and Bengaluru, Reema will collaborate with Sarthak Malhotra, another India-qualified lawyer who joined BKL in 2023. The firm is further expanding its Indian operations by seconding Garam Shon to Trilegal, a law firm in Delhi, to enhance its local capabilities.

BKL’s Recent Recruitment Efforts

These appointments are part of BKL’s ongoing expansion. In August, the firm welcomed four employment law specialists, including partner Hyunyoung Seo from Yulchon. Earlier, in May, intellectual property partners Hong Jung-hoon and Kim Il-kwon joined from Lee & Ko, reflecting BKL’s commitment to growth.

Garam Shon, a key member of BKL’s India Task Force, will be seconded to Trilegal in Delhi starting October 2026. His role will involve guiding Korean companies on investment incentives, M&A and joint ventures.
