Anna Golovsky, co-lead of the Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC) Australia, notes that the organisation’s focus is informed by its members’ priorities. CLOC Australia began with around 20 people gathering in Telstra’s Melbourne office. Golovsky states that the biggest impact of CLOC in Australia is providing a place for legal operations professionals to come together as a community to share learnings, to drive collaboration and innovation in how legal departments are transforming the delivery of legal services.
The organisation can leverage global perspectives through the CLOC organization, but they can also create their own local centre of excellence really as a community.
As one of the co-chairs of CLOC Australia, Golovsky is at the helm of the organisation during an important time. In their first quarterly meeting for the year, members prioritised AI deployment, knowledge management, and vendor management. There is a focus on uplifting panel arrangements and using data and analytics to drive better understanding of panel spend.
The co-chairs aim to provide relevant, in-region-focused content that can allow their members to learn, to upskill within their expertise as legal operations specialists so they can take back that knowledge to their organisations. Networking is a key part of the organisation’s priorities; an event like the innovation summit brings together law firms, service providers, technology partners and CLOC’s own in-house members.
Golovsky values the collaborative spirit in the organisation, which drives innovation and change, and gives confidence and stamina to the group to continue striving for change. She finds professional satisfaction in working with her peers in CLOC and networking with the broader community.
