A New York appeals court dismissed Ivanka Trump on Tuesday from a wide-ranging fraud lawsuit brought against her father and his company last year by the state’s attorney general. the civil lawsuit, brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accused former President Trump of padding his net worth by billions of dollars and misleading banks, insurance companies and others about the value of his assets, including golf courses and the Mar-a-Lago estate. It named his three eldest children — Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric Trump — as defendants, along with multiple Trump Organization executives. In a ruling on Tuesday, the Appellate Division of New York’s Supreme Court dismissed the claims against Ivanka Trump, ruling that they were barred by the state’s statute of limitations.…

CNN —A Virginia sheriff is facing federal fraud and conspiracy charges as the US Justice Department claims he handed out deputy sheriff badges in exchange for money to help fund his election campaign, according to an indictment unsealed Thursday.Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Howard Jenkins, 51, and three other Virginia men have been charged with a conspiracy to exchange bribes for law enforcement badges and credentials, the US attorney’s office for the Western District of Virginia said in a statement.The indictment claims that from at least April 2019, Jenkins accepted cash bribes and bribes in the form of campaign contributions totaling at least $72,500 from Rick Tariq Rahim, 55, of Great Falls, Fredric Gumbinner, 64, of Fairfax, James Metcalf, 60, of Manassas, and at least five others, including two FBI undercover agents.…

Manuel Oliver knocked a former school resource officer and his attorney for “celebrating” after the officer was found not guilty of all charges related to his actions around the 2018 school shooting in Parkland, Fla. “These guys are celebrating today. He said he got his life back. They’re going to the Vatican. They thanked the Lord. Apparently their Lord is a different Lord than Joaquin’s Lord,” Oliver, whose son Joaquin died in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, said on CNN. “He decided to give this guy his life back, which is not in any way, in any way, comparable to losing life,” he added.…

The state Attorney General’s Office is filing suits against an auto dealer in the North Hills, alleging the business is deceiving customers by selling them a vehicle with known issues. A Pittsburgh woman told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 she fell victim to the alleged practices this week when she bought a car. The lawsuit was filed by Deputy Attorney General Jaimie George in Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Friday. It alleges the North Hills Auto Mall and its owner Regis Mannke are violating state auto regulations and the Consumer Protection Act. The lawsuit alleging the business is claiming the vehicles are in good condition and under warranty, but the Attorney General’s Office released a statement saying in part, “The dealership had classified the vehicles as being sold “as is,” and the “warranty” was actually a limited-service contract from a third party.”…

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – A judge this morning rejected an agreement between the city of Davenport and Andrew Wold, the owner of the downtown building that collapsed Memorial Day weekend. Wold was scheduled to appear at the Scott County District Court on an enforcement action filed by the city that aims to keep Wold from transferring the building to other ownership and avoiding demolition costs and other fees. In a bizarre scene in court, Wold’s attorney, Jack O’Brien, called the judge instead of appearing in person. He said the city and Wold had come to an arrangement before the court hearing in which Wold would plead no contest.…
