WORCESTER – Lawyers for Jack Teixeira, the Massachusetts Air National Guard member accused of leaking highly classified military documents, filed an appeal Monday of a magistrate judge’s order to keep him in jail. They say other defendants accused in national security cases, like former President Donald Trump, have not been ordered held like the 21-year-old from North Dighton. Teixeira has been behind bars since his April arrest on charges stemming from the most consequential intelligence leak in years. A judge ruled in May that Teixeira must remain in jail while the case plays out, saying that he was “disloyal to the US” and releasing him would pose a risk that he would attempt to flee the country or obstruct justice.…

Hunter Biden’s attorney Abbe David Lowell filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Friday, just days after the right-wing congresswoman showed poster-sized nude images of the president’s son at a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing. Lowell, in the letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics, wrote that it previously contacted the office over Greene’s defamatory statements and “bizarre dissemination of conspiracy theories” toward Hunter Biden, adding that she “lowered herself and by extension the entire House … to a new level of abhorrent behavior” with her actions at Wednesday’s hearing. Greene displayed the sexually explicit images at a hearing where the Internal Revenue Service whistleblowers made claims that the Justice Department interfered in an investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes.…

James Comer, R-Ky., said a key informant for the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the Biden family had disappeared. He said on Fox Business that House Republicans couldn’t “track down the informant.” Now, it turns out that the previously unknown informant, Gal Luft, has been charged with acting as an unregistered agent of China, as well as seeking to broker the sale of weapons and Iranian oil. The owners and operators of four nursing homes siphoned off more than $83 million in taxpayer funds while neglecting residents, leading to injuries and death, according to the New York State attorney general, Letitia James, who filed a lawsuit against the owners on Wednesday. “They put profit over people again and again and again while vulnerable New Yorkers were reduced to skeletons,” Ms. James said at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon, adding that the co-owners of the nursing homes, Kenneth Rozenberg and Daryl Hagler, bought more than $130 million in real estate and even purchased an airline while the homes struggled.…

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York appeals court dismissed Ivanka Trump on Tuesday from a wide-ranging fraud lawsuit brought against her father and his company last year by the state’s attorney general. The civil lawsuit, brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accused former President Donald Trump of padding his net worth by billions of dollars and misleading banks, insurance companies and others about the value of his assets, including golf courses and the Mar-a -Lago estate.
